Transcriptional heterogeneity has been observed among neural stem cells in the adult zebrafish telencephalon, and associated with differences in cell behaviour. We are interested in determining whether differences in chromatin accessibility across the stem cell population may underly these transcriptional and behavioural differences. We are also interested to see whether chromatin accessibility patterns change over time and neural stem cells undergo chronological aging, along with a change in transcriptional identity, as aging as been shown in other systems to be accompanied by decreased neurogenic capacity by the neural stem cell pool.
