Project context and summary:

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are small spherical membrane blebs released in the microenvironment by the mother bacteria. EVs contain biological information related to the mother cell. Interestingly, EVs are massively produced by bacteria upon stress (i.e. antibiotic stress) and are thought to be a crucial determinant for adaptation to stress.

We want to understand the mechanisms underlying the EV-bacteria interplay and stress response relief mediated by EVs, by comparing gene expression levels in populations of bacteria growing with and without EVs, upon antibiotic stress.
