Project context and summary:

White spot syndrome virus is a major shrimp pathogen with a high mortality rate and a wide host range; causing economic loss to the aquaculture industry. For the first time, a complete de novo genome of a Malagasy isolate of this virus will be carried out using the Next Generation Sequencing method. Whole genome sequence of this virus will enable us to understand the genetic diversity at national and international level and could help in the development of strategies for the prevention and control of aquaculture related diseases.
