Project context and summary:

Vibrio cholerae contains in its genome a region, the Super Integron, that is very rich in mobile elements and repeated sequences. We discovered that just by inverting it, we drastically enhance the instability of the region and decrease the fitness of the bacterium. Through an evolution experiment, we identified some clones that grow normally even though the Super Integron is inverted. We wonder wether these clones carry a specific mutation that allows the Super Integron to be stabilized no matter what is its orientation.
What are these mutation?
How do they increase the cell fitness in this condition?
The first step is to sequence those clones.
