Project context and summary:

Standard protocol is still to be validated for fecal DNA extraction to study and analyze gut mycobiota (fungal microbiota).
Therefore, we aim to compare two adapted protocols for specific fungal DNA extraction from healthy individuals’ fecal samples, in order to determine the most efficient one. The study will be conducted within three labs from the FunHoMic consortium (Hospital Val d’Hebron, Barcelona, Spain, Prodigest, Ghent, Belgium, BPF, Institut Pasteur, Paris).
Each lab will perform the two different DNA extraction protocol. Fungal DNA concentration will be quantified by 18S Panfungal qPCR and targeted metagenomic of the ITS1 region will be perfom to assess the sequences quality.
