Project context and summary:

Our team focuses on the implication of Streptococcus gallolyticus (previously known as S. bovis) in colon cancer. In our experiments we used Streptococcus macedonicus, belonging also to the S. bovis/Streptococcus equinus complex, as a non-pathogenic control strain. In a previous whole genome sequencing project (Project 1126) of S. gallolyticus clinical isolates, we have included our S. macedonicus strain. However, probably due to the multiplexing method, 8 contigs were provided for this latter and the complete assembly could not be obtained. We tried to perform this assembly by a classical PCR approach, but we failed to join two contigs. Since there is only one complete whole genome available in the database, it is important for us to have the complete whole genome of our S. macedonicus strain.
In summary, we would like to have two circularized genomes of S. macedonicus:
S. macedonicus from our collection (CIP 105683T) and that of the same strain after passage in the mouse model.
