The objective is to screen a collection of E. coli strains harboring diverse candidate defense systems against a panel of phages, using efficiency of plating assays to characterize defense profiles, perform the isolation and phenotypic analysis of phage mutants capable of escaping these defenses, and finally the extraction and sequencing of their genomes to identify escape mutations.
