Project context and summary:

The gastrointestinal tract is exposed to many commensal microbes (the microbiota), food antigens, and enteropathogens. Therefore, the single layer of epithelial cells constituting the intestinal barrier is challenged continuously and interacts with mucosal myeloid cells to orchestrate an appropriate host response to these external stimuli.
