Project context and summary:

Opportunistic waterborne pathogens, such as bacteria from the genera Legionella, Pseudomonas and non-tuberculous Mycobacteria represent an emerging infectious disease problem due to both the constantly rising numbers of immunocompromised/ at risk populations and the new conditions imposed by climatic change (higher temperatures and precipitation surplus). Thus this project aims to carry out a comprehensive characterisation of the occurrence, quantity and distribution of opportunistic waterborne bacterial pathogens in drinking water systems
