Project context and summary:

Yersinia species include pathogenic bacteria responsible for enteric infections. Transition from the environment to the intestinal tract represents a critical step in which bacteria are exposed to novel stimuli, triggering the activation of a transcriptional virulence program. Our project intends to characterize this virulent switch in order to understand the molecular determinants that allow enteropathogenic Yersinia to cause disease.
